LeVar Burton will Host a Trivial Pursuit Game Show

Trivial Pursuit, the board game show has been a staple of family fun for over four decades. But what will happen when LeVar Burton takes on Host? You can expect an updated version from Trivia to be released this fall.

Trivial Pursuit is a turn based game in which players answer trivia questions to earn points. Trivia has become an international phenomenon with over 250 million games sold worldwide, including versions for iOS, Android and Xbox 360.LeVar Burton will host a new game show to air on CBS. The series, titled “LeVar: Search for the Next Great American Kid,” is set to premiere in September and feature an all-star cast of celebrity contestants competing against each other every week with $50,000 at stake.

LeVar Burton will host a new game show called “trivial pursuit 2020” that is set to air on the CBS network. The game show will feature trivia questions about all aspects of life.

18 November 2021 – A new type of Trivia Gig awaits the fan-favorite Jeopardy host contender. LeVar Burton will host a game show based on the classic board game Trivial Pursuit. The series is being developed by E1, a Hasbro entertainment business. Variety, a Hollywood trade journal, broke the story first. The series has yet to be assigned to a network, but considering the prevalence of this sort of format, as well as the property’s prominence and Burton’s role as host, it should only be a matter of time.

“‘Trivial Pursuit’ is one of the most well-known gaming franchises,” Burton said. “I’m thrilled to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring this iconic game to life as a premium television program.”

Burton indicated in a September appearance on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” that he was no longer interested in hosting “Jeopardy!” after his experience with the quiz show.

“The strange thing is that when you set your eyes on something…they say be cautious what you wish for, because what I discovered is that it wasn’t the thing I wanted after all,” Burton said to Noah. “All I wanted to do was compete.” I mean, I really wanted the job, so when I didn’t get it, I was like, ‘Well, well, what’s next?’”

Trivial Pursuit was first released in 1981. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a board game in which you answer trivia questions in several categories, each of which gives you a different piece of pie, and the first person to acquire one of each and answer the final question wins. It is still considered to be one of the finest trivia board games ever produced.

Several versions of Trivial Pursuit have been published throughout the years, each focusing on a different topic. The Genus edition is the updated version of the original. Junior Edition (1985), All-Star Sports, Baby Boomers, 1980s, All About the 1980s, 1990s, and others are among the numerous editions. Over 100 distinct versions in various languages have been issued in total.

This isn’t the first time a TV program based on Trivial Pursuit has been attempted. From 1993 to 1995, a version of Trivial Pursuit hosted by Wink Martindale aired on The Family Channel in the United States (Jay Wolpert had attempted a pilot in 1987, but it was not picked up). From 2008 to 2009, Christopher Knight presented a syndicated version of the game called Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. Roger Lodge presented a five-episode sports trivia game show called ESPN Trivial Pursuit on ESPN in September 2004.

Hasbro has been hard at work adapting numerous board game IP into film and television adaptations after purchasing Entertainment One (E1) for $3.8 billion in 2019. The business announced a TV version of Whac-A-Mole and an Uno-themed game program in April. They stated in February that an animated Clue TV program was in the works. They revealed in January that a Risk TV program from the makers of House of Cards was in development.

This is fantastic news for followers of LeVar Burton and lovers of the trivia game show genre who have a strong desire to have him lead Jeopardy. It makes perfect sense to use the Trivia Pursuit IP for a game show. Being a master of all forms of knowledge, from sports to science to the bizarre, is what it takes to be a trivia master.
