Samsung Confirms Ray Tracing Support in Next-Gen Exynos SoC with AMD RDNA 2 GPU, Coming to Premium Galaxy Smartphones

In a major announcement, Samsung has confirmed that the next-generation Exynos SoC will support ray tracing. This is a big win for AMD and its RDNA 2 GPU, which is already powering flagship smartphones like the S10 and Xperia 1.

Samsung is working on a next-generation Exynos SoC for its premium Galaxy devices that will use AMD’s RDNA 2 technology to provide a significant increase in mobile graphics performance. In the summer of 2019, AMD and Samsung announced their collaboration in low-power, high-performance graphics technology. Although no particular devices were mentioned at the time, AMD stated that their graphics IP will be used by Samsung for smartphones and other mobile applications.
