This Is Your Champion? (Kenny Omega)- G+G

Kenny Omega, a professional wrestler and member of the Bullet Club, is one of the most popular wrestlers in Japan. He’s known for his charisma and entertaining matches that have been featured on WWE Raw and Nitro.

The kenny omega wife is a question that many wrestling fans have been asking themselves. Kenny Omega has been dating his longtime girlfriend, Amber O’Neal for over 10 years now.

Thank you for visiting Geeks + Gamers, and welcome! I talk about Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, the AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, and more this week!

A few years ago, the stars seemed to be aligning for a major change in the world of professional wrestling. Everyone was talking about a huge new company with a television contract and “real, sport-based wrestling.” The contemporary wrestling fan’s existence of “eating crap and learning to enjoy the flavor” has finally come to an end. Wasn’t it? Every Thursday, join me here to dissect the acts of the stupid, dangerous, and desperate in pro wrestling… well, in AEW.

Don’t be fooled by Kenny Omega’s belt on his shoulder if you came for the ice cream bars and decided to stick around. It would almost be humorous if the scenario wasn’t so tragic.

Kenny Omega is a complete wuss.

AEW was founded two years ago to provide wrestling fans old and young with a genuine alternative to WWE. It was a big job to carry the aspirations and ambitions of all the mistreated wrestling fans, but a team appeared backstage and in the ring to convince us that it was doable. The effort was there… kind of, but some of the paths individuals were taking looked a little off-kilter.

There were a few wrestling enthusiasts that would scream that Kenny Omega was the greatest wrestler in the world now, then, and forever even before AEW opened its doors. I listened to this assertion with an open mind since I’d never heard of him before, and I began searching for some of his matches. Rather than me informing you what the nonsense he’s been up to, here’s a sample of his pre-AEW work that those fans were familiar with.

September 11, 2021 — AEW Botches (@aewbotches)

I’m not convinced that the same standard should be used when determining who the company’s top executive should be. As I already said, this is not all of it. AEWBotches on Twitter has uploaded a lot of Omega’s back catalog and has gotten a lot of flak for it, from legal warnings to YouTube strikes to threats of murder sent at him and his family in his DMs. This sounds to me like a lot of time has been wasted mindlessly repeating how wonderful Omega is. Some of them are either unaware of the hilarity and are reacting out of embarrassment when they see it, or they just like it and are enraged that others are laughing AT it rather than WITH it.

Tony Khan may attempt to prevent people from pointing out faults and inconsistencies in his promotion/own words all he likes, but this is the internet, Tony. These issues will constantly come up again. Also, stop laughing when people point out WWE’s gaffes and then sulking when people hold the same stick against you. The word “no” isn’t necessarily a bad one.

That would be one thing if Kenny Omega was simply some obscure online novelty act. The issue is that AEW is now bringing in some real star power, and those who will bring in more eyeballs to the promotion are starting to step in some of the amateur nonsense that has been stinking up the place for a long. AEW should be grateful that people didn’t laugh Omega out of public life on first sight, much alone that they tried to persuade the public that Omega is any sort of strong man, celebrity, or even simply a pro-wrestler.

The American Dragon Runs Into A Wall

Last week, Bryan Danielson made his AEW debut against Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite. The fight got off to a good start, but the commercial break came just as Omega was about to capitalize on the deadly maneuver he had just executed, totally flattening my tires. We were able to witness an example of normal AEW officiating thanks to the picture-in-picture feature. Bryan had been down and out on the ring’s edge for almost a minute, but the referee had forgotten that he was supposed to keep count of how long Bryan had been out there.

The rest of the fight saw each man hit each other with powerful punches, kick out of everything, and Kenny Omega was even (shown as being) skilled enough to easily escape Bryan’s cattle mutilation submission. Both guys were still on their feet and swinging when the 30-minute time limit expired. Bryan was a mangled mess, but Omega didn’t seem bothered. It would have been one thing if Bryan had been on the verge of making Omega tap as the bell sounded, but he didn’t. Bryan seemed to be half-dead, only inches away from achieving his goal.

Kenny Omega, wrestling, WWE, AEW

Bryan was not only young and healthy as he walked into this championship picture, but he was also new to the promotion as a whole. For a long time, Omega has been protecting that belt. Furthermore, Omega could have afforded the defeat there if it hadn’t been for the championship. Bryan has already requested a championship chance after pinning the champion in a non-title bout. This didn’t have to be a quick response, however. Bryan said that he was just interested in finding out who was the best fighter; the title was not a consideration. Omega might have ducked him and Bryan could have been distracted by other people for a long time before it paid off.

It was disappointing to see Bryan Danielson, who is an absolute machine, struggle with this obstacle. It’d be akin to Captain America stepping into the DC/Batman universe and striking a deal with Robin. Nobody is impressed by it. Bryan’s defeat against Sheamus in less than a minute suddenly seems to be less humiliating. Before a genuine meat-head kicked his head off, Bryan was at least distracted by his crumpet, AJ Lee.

Bryan couldn’t even defeat the child and inanimate object wrestler in AEW.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened.

Kenny Omega’s connection with “Hangman” Adam Page did Page, the seeming up-and-comer, no favors, as I stated in The Luck of The Hangman essay. To be fair to Omega, he isn’t the only one that does this. Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks, his fellow Extra Value Performers behind the scenes, deserve their hands slapped as well.

wrestling, WWE, AEW, Kenny Omega

Due to their own scheduling choices, all three are also guilty of ensuring they appear like a million bucks more frequently than not. FTR’s loss to The Young Bucks is one example; The Bucks’ kicking out of everyone else is another.

Of course, Cody Rhodes is in the same boat. He goes missing for a bit because that non-wrestling TV teet is so delicious, and he can’t stop himself from climbing, climbing, climbing. When he returns to AEW, he makes the biggest entrance possible, complete with all the bells and whistles, and attempts to present himself as a tough, sympathetic underdog. Even AEW aficionados can now see how phony Cody is.

So, what’s the plan?

It’s something I said last week, and it’s something I’ll say again. Kenny Omega must go… to YouTube, at the very least. Remove his belt, and we won’t have to worry about his appearing on television ever again. I’m not too concerned about who takes it away from him; there can’t be many people who would create more of a mess than he. Even Jon Moxley, who had just lately recalled how to conduct a wrestling bout, was doing a better job with it!

But first and foremost, someone has to remind Kenny that he needs to take a long, hard look at himself and the way he works/carries himself. It may be good letting him know that he doesn’t come off as tough or scary as he believes, and perhaps showing him this easy visual assistance to keep track of things.

wrestling, WWE, AEW, Kenny Omega

It wouldn’t be long until all of the misunderstood ex-WWE wrestlers and emerging AEW/indie talent filled the gap left by the garbage, and I’m sure many fans would be shocked at how little Omega and others who didn’t make the cut would be missed.

I understand that doing this without throwing a big tantrum will be difficult. When Jim Ross didn’t immediately reply with “Kenny Omega” when asked who the greatest wrestler in the world is, Kenny tossed his teddy out of the pram. When the Young Bucks promised the greatest tag fight in the world, they deleted their Twitter account, and fans reacted with both positive and non-constructive comments. Oh, and their father also wrote a note requesting that everyone leave them alone; classic! Cody and the HemorRhodes Family have already used social media to lash out at followers and blame them for not like something that didn’t work out as planned.

The current issue that is getting in the way of everyone else is Omega as the top dog, but he isn’t the only one. That AEW EVP bubble contains a thin-skinned, petty small gang; the sooner it collapses, the better it will be for everyone else.

That’s all I’ve got for this week. Thank you for visiting, and I hope to see you again on Monday for #AnotherWeekOfWrestling and next Friday for more #ThatsNotWrestling!
