As a huge fan of the Farming Simulator series, I am curious whether this new instalment is worth it – especially as there are limited reviews. The release date has just come and gone so we cannot provide much in terms of insights into how the game compares to previous installments. However, here’s my hands-on impressions for those interested

Everyone has heard of the Farming Simulator series at some point, but the majority of people have never played it. It’s a game that farmers play at home because they like their lifestyle so much, and it’s also a game that some broadcasters prefer because of the intricate management elements included in each title. We’ve got access to the newest installment, Farming Simulator 22, for some time now, and here are our first impressions.

What’s the good news?

Farming Simulator 22 has a lot going for it. If you’re someone who enjoys getting up early in the morning to exercise or work on a side project, you’ll be acquainted with the sensation you receive when playing. This is a game about the never-ending grind of land maintenance and the final return that comes from selling a truckload of grain for a ridiculous amount.

There’s also the fact that you get to operate over 400 meticulously replicated agricultural vehicles, as well as all of their associated accessories. A single tractor may cost more than a home, which is why picking one up in-game and driving it around your fields while doing what you think constitutes as farming feels so good.

Farming Simulator 22 offers more goods to work on than any previous installment. You can concentrate on animals, orchards, or crops, but if you want to, you can go even farther. You could, for example, take your grains, grind them into flour, and then bake a cake to sell at the local farm store. You may also carefully maintain your grapevines in order to create extraordinary juice that will eventually be turned into wine. The absence of any form of assistance is the only significant criticism we have about Farming Simulator 22, apart from the strange AI system, which seems to have been remedied with a pre-release patch. If you’re unfamiliar with how farming works and how to play, this is certainly not the series for you. At the same time, this makes the game very unwelcoming to newbies.

We spent a lot of time figuring out topics that could have easily been presented in a short lesson or narrative mode that achieved the same function. However, it’s difficult to blame the game for lacking a narrative mode since the target audience doesn’t want to play it.

So far, my impressions

So far in Farming Simulator 22, we’ve spent more time looking for spots, trying to figure out why we need a tractor weight, and yelling at the screen as an AI worker waited about doing nothing. The feeling of success and utter delight we felt when we were paid made it all worthwhile once we’d finally harvested our first field and tipped the rear of the trailer up to deliver it.

Farming Simulator 22 is, as previously said, a simulation about the daily grind that real-life farmers undergo. The opening cinematic may make it seem more grandiose and magnificent than it is, but it does a good job of preparing you for the hundreds of hours it will take you to break your addiction to growing, stitching seeds, fertilizing, harvesting, and causing traffic jams in obscenely big tractors.
