Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain Returns to PC Courtesy of GOG

This week, GOG announced that it will be hosting a re-release of the original Blood Omen. The game was originally released in 1996 and is one of the first games to feature a fully 3D environment.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain Returns to PC Courtesy of GOG is a game that was originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2002. The game has been remastered and re-released by GOG, and is available for purchase at $4.99.

Blood Omen, the first and highly acclaimed Legacy of Kain videogame from Silicon Knights, is now accessible on PC for the first time in 25 years. The effort seems to be completely down to GOG, which appears to have navigated all of the tangled laws surrounding the famous game. On the DRM-free shop, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is presently available for $6.29.

Due to the large number of businesses involved, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain has been unavailable for a long time on PC. Silicon Knights, Crystal Dynamics, Activision, BMG Interactive, and Semi Logic Entertainments have all had their fingers in the game, according to a member on r/LegacyOfKain, with IP rights moving about due to acquisitions and other changes. The PC version’s publication rights are owned by Activision, which has allegedly made it difficult for businesses to negotiate for its distribution in the past.
